Description
Sarah Tibbets and her children eagerly awaited word from her husband Captain John M. Tibbetts (1841-1926) who was at sea. She answered a letter he wrote her with news of home.
Sarah McKown Tibbetts (1840-1910) had 10 children from a previous marriage, including Charles and Wilford "Wilbur" Boucher. Her children were primarily raised in Boothbay, where she was born. According to census records, Charles worked as a fisherman as well as in the hotel business as referenced in this letter. In 1894, Will worked as a cook at the Porter Hotel in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
