Description
Sarah Tibbetts was the wife of a seafaring husband, Captain John M. Tibbetts. While her husband was at sea with one of their sons in tow, she cared for their youngest son and one or more of her grandchildren.
The Tibbetts family rented a house on the east shore of Westport at the south end of the island.
Sarah wrote of a neighbor, Alice M. Jewett, who had died on May 2, 1895 and had her funeral on the day that she wrote this letter.
