Description
John Brooks 'Jack' Howard (1875-1971) photographed Philip J. Teele (left), Jack Howard (right), and a crew member (center) on the deck of the S.S. Cumberland while traveling between Boston, Massachusetts, and Eastport circa 1900, en route to a hunting and fishing trip in Washington County.
The S.S. Cumberland ceased operating after a collision in July 1902.
Howard captured the photo ahead of the walking beam, which transferred power from the steam engines to the paddle wheels.
