Description
Photographer and sportsman John Brooks "Jack" Howard photographed hunting guide "Bill" driving a horsedrawn wagon over a rough corduroy road circa 1900. Corduroy roads were typically built on swamp or bog land and were treacherous for hours. Howard took the photograph during a hunting and fishing trip that began at Meddybemps Lake.
This photograph was also later reproduced as a hand-colored lantern slide.
